Last year was our first time at Camp Bestival and we were a little overwhelmed with the amount of fabulous stuff going on; So much so that there were a few areas that we didn’t really make the most of, with the Slow Motion area being one of them.
Last year was all about the kids for us really and all our activities were planned around them. What would have been fabulous would be to get a little break from the excitement and take a little time out for ourselves.
Slow Motion has a range of massage treatments from sports massage to reflexology, Reiki sessions that you can go along to on your own or with your children or a relaxing and revitalising Shiatsu massage that will help you restore the calm and leave you ready to enjoy the rest of the festival.
The indulgence doesn’t stop there though. The Transformation Station allows you to get away from the communal showers and hop into a solar power shower and treat yourself to the use of a hairdryer and straighteners which I know is something missed by a lot of people when camping!
From here you can head over and enjoy getting your hair braided, some nail art done or get really festival ready with some super cool body and glitter art by the talented Jingo.
I know that after a few days of one to many G&Ts and lots of indulgent food my body was craving something a little healthier and this is the perfect place to grab some healthy and nutritious food and drink.
Something my husband was keen to try last year was the nature run. It’s a perfect way to set yourself up for the day and allows you to step off site for a while and take in the beauty that surrounds Lulworth Castle with the chance to clear your head and slip in some peaceful meditation too.
I know this is a must for us this year and I’m sure something that would be a big pull for many busy parents.
A whole year is a pretty long time to wait in between festivals so thankfully Camp Bestival and Big Fish Little Fish have got together this year to create a tour that allows everyone to experience the fun of festival for a few hours before the summer and get ready for this years festival theme of ‘pop stars and rock stars’.
Last year we spend a lot of time next to the BFLF stage at Camp Bestival and the boys absolutely loved dancing around and jumping on and of the stage to all the great music they put on.
We were lucky enough to go along to the tour at Dreamland in Margate last week which is one of my favourite seaside attractions.
The cool, retro theme of Dreamland was the perfect setting for a children’s rave with lots of open space around the roller disco area that had been transformed into a super cool dance floor for the kids…well the adults too!
The dance floor was packed with people dancing playing with the tents and tunnels that were set out and eagerly awaiting the bubble machine and glitter cannons to go off!
For the really tiny ones there were quieter areas set up away from the hustle and bustle of it all.
It wouldn’t have that festival feel without face painting and even though my guys weren’t interest there were some very impressive faces walking around.
The boys spent a lot of time over at the craft station getting tattoos, making superheroes masks and creating masterpieces with the play dough.
In addition to all this fun families had the opportunity to grab some ‘pop stars and rock stars’ themed props and take a photo at the booth that gave them the chance to win one of three family tickets to Camp Bestival 17 which would make for the most fantastic prize!
The next event is in Hackney on 23rd April and if is set to be another cracker if you can get along to it.
If not please take a look at everything Camp Bestival has to offer. I can’t put into words what a mind blowing experience we had last year and this years is set to top it!
One of the many highlights from our trip to Camp Bestival last year was the Big Fish Little Fish stage. These very clever guys are the makers of the best…if not only family friendly, kids raves I have seen.
We were lucky enough to go to their first event in the Ministry Of Sound which albeit a little surreal was the perfect mix of dress up, dancing and fun and games for children and adults alike.
It would be the perfect taster for a insight into what to expect at Camp Bestival for anyone thinking of going or as a warm up for all the regulars.
With the Camp Bestival ‘Pop Stars And Rock Stars’ theme this year the tour would be a great chance to get all those outfits ready and give them a run on the dance floor to see if they can take the pace, there will even be an opportunity to have your photo taken in the Camp Bestival photo booth and enter a competition to win one of three family tickets to this years festival.
The tour is starting on the 5th of February and is coming to Farnham, Bristol, Southampton, Balham, Margate, Bath, Bournemouth and Hackney.
We will be going along to Margate and enjoying the rave at Dreamland which if you are a follower of mine you will know this is one of our favourite seaside venues and will be the perfect place to host a Big Fish Little Fish Event.
Take a look here to get your tickets booked and keep an eye out for all the run we are going to have in a few months time!
With my love of photography and wanting to capture as many moments in my children’s ever changing lives I am excited to be joining in with Living Arrows which is a project aimed at celebrating childhood created by Donna Wishart.
I’m really pleased to be able to start this project off with a couple of images of my youngest two doing what we love most…getting outside.
We had a trip to Knowle Park in Sevenoaks to see the deer, get in some fresh air after being stuck indoors over Christmas and to try and get as muddy as possible!
Last summer we were at Camp Bestival getting our grove on to hits from my teens from Bananarama, jumping around to Reggie and Bollie and in awe of a spectacular performance put on by Fatboy Slim.
This years line up for 2017 Pop Stars And Rock Stars is beginning to take shape and looks like it is set to top lasts years acts if that could be possible!
All Saints will be gracing the stage and this is another group that bring back many memories of my carefree youth.
The infamous Mark Ronson is set to headline on Friday night and is one not to be missed.
Mr Tumble will be making a very welcome return of the hoards of people that were there to see him last year are anything to go by!
Something that my daughter would absolutely love to see if the UK festivals exclusive – School Of Rock from the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s fabulous new musical.
This is just a taster of things to come and these acts mixed with the hundreds of activities to keep busy kids amused and delicious food around every corner then this years festival is definitely worth checking out.
Pop over ‘here’ to get your tickets booked and get your summer off to a cracking start.
Our summer holidays got off to the most fantastic start ever this year with a fabulous few days at Camp Bestival.
I never thought staying in the middle of a muddy field under canvas with four little ones would have left us with such wonderful memories and made such an impact on us as a family.
I couldn’t recommend a trip to Camp Bestival enough and with their 10th festival coming up this year I’m sure it will be even bigger and better than ever!
As with every year there is a theme to the weekend and this year it’s time to dig out the leather and get your air guitars at the ready for Pop Stars And Rock Stars.
I’m sure that you are all gearing up to Christmas now and lots of pressies are being bought.
What better present could you get than one that would create a lifetime of memories for years to come, and this is exactly what you would get from giving the gift of Camp Bestival tickets.
You can expect outstanding music, superb theatrical acts, hilarious comedy, all the fun of the fair with numerous fairground attractions, mouth watering food round every corner, the chance to really get into your natural surrounding with plenty of outdoor activities and so much more!
If you grab the early bird tickets before the 9th December they will come with an exclusive souvenir Camp Bestival Christmas card. These are limited so you will need to get in quick.
Whilst we are on the subject of Christmas there will be the Camp Bestival Advent Calender coming in the next few days where you have the chance to win some great prizes and activity sheets, so something well worth entering.
Lastly if you fancy a little bit of luxury with your stay then Camping Plus, Backstage VIP and Hospitality Camping are all open for booking now and are limited on spaces so don’t miss out if this is for you!
As much as the kids can drive me absolutely up the wall at times I love having them off school for the long break over summer.
We have had countless trips to the park and spent many days eating out of the sandwich bag, a wonderful week in Chichester where we got to explore places we’ve never visited before.
We had our wonderful family over from America and got to spend lots of time with them catching up on everything we have missed over the years and getting the chance to join them on the Harry Potter Studio Tour.
One of our favourite annual trips is to the Mayfield Lavender Fields, infact we had more than one trip this year!
What I have to be grateful for this year more than anything though is everything that we have been able to experience though the opportunities that blogging has bought to us.
The lovely ladies Ruth and Katy organised a brilliant day of pizza eating and movie watching with Pizza Express and Fox Studios that was the perfect start to the holidays.
We got the chance to visit Shrek Adventure and the London Aquarium.
We took park in an action packed spy day with the new release of the Project MC2 for Netflix.
We filled out bellies with afternoon tea at sketch and Kerb at Camden Market.
For me though the highlight of our holiday has to be getting made an official blogger for Camp Bestival and having the chance to experience the most wonderful few days ever!
Those six weeks may be over but we have made some stellar memories that will last a lifetime!
What have you all been up too?
When the weather is good holidaying in the UK is an absolute delight.
We have been blessed with some fabulous weather in Chichester this week and the kids can’t get enough of having afternoons on the beach paddling and skimming stones!
It’s that exciting time of year where most of us are having a little break away with the family to relax, have time for each other and leave all our worries behind.
The one thing that we shouldn’t be carefree about though is the safety of our home while we are away.
This is obviously a prime time to be targeted for a break in and unfortunatly happend to us on two occasions, but there are things you can put in place to prevent this.
Chill Insurance have asked me to come up with some of my top tips for keeping your property safe at this time of year.
Check Home Security – locks on doors and windows should be in working order and any keys that keep them locked well out of site. As well as the main house ensure all sheds and garages are well locked and secure to.
Fake Ocupancy – A few lights on in the home will work as a deterrent to some burglars so having lights on a timer is a great idea.
Hide Tell Tale Signs – Milk being left on the doorstop, bins not being taken in and post hanging from the door are all signs that there might be an empty home.
Try to get a family member to pop round and take in the post and milk so it looks like there are signs of life.
House Insurance – This is one of the most obvious yet often over looked areas. People fail to see it has needed updating of have missed the renewal date and so have nothing to fall back on if the worst happens.
I hope these tip have been of some help to you and I would love to hear any that you may have.
