My Talking Tom Friends – A Game For All The Family

Way back in 2010 we saw the release of Talking Tom – a mobile app that involved the cute Tom cat mimicking the user by repeating things they said.

He was a huge hit in this house and we have loved watching him evolve over the years and are now super excited to see he is back with a new gang of friends and a new app – My Talking Tom Friends.

During these difficult times we have been trying to keep the everyone busy and this new app has been perfect for this and something the whole family can join in with.

For me this app is a great way to build people’s nurturing side by seeing to Tom and his friends needs by looking after them in a range of different ways. As well as caring for them they can take part in a whole host of mini games where they can play sport, grow food, cook dinner, sing karaoke and much more.

It’s a great game for all the family and is available worldwide on iOS and android and can be downloaded here for free.

Staying On Top Of My Finances With Youtility

[AD] Housing costs are at a 13 year high with no hope that things are set to improve anytime soon. The bills that are coming in highest are housing, fuel and power which are obviously necessities and not something we can get on without. This coupled with huge costs of rent/mortgage payments, travel to and from work, food and clothing can often leave people with very little to spend on free time which can be extremely hard on family life.

Due to this keeping an eye on money coming into and out of the house is of upmost importance and sadly I am the worlds worst at organising my finances. I don’t keep track of anything coming in and out and very rarely shop around for cheaper deals which is so important when it comes to getting the most from your money.

I know that for me this is an extremely poor way to deal with things, especially as I am trying to run such a large household, so when I was approached by Youtility to try out there app I knew it was the perfect time to get things into order.

Youtility offer a one stop app to revolutionise the way you organise your household bills so that everything you need is all in one place.

Every Bill In On Place – Youtility allows you to add every bill you have to the app so you know exactly what you have and how much is going out in, all in one place instead of having to log into each account separately to get all your details.

Track Your Homes Performance – This was something I really loved about the app. You can see how efficiently you are running your home compared to others in your area. It really makes you think about things like your electricity and gas consumption and has really prompted me to make changes in these areas. Having shorter showers, turning the thermostat down a notch or two and making sure that the house isn’t continually like Blackpool illuminations are all great ways to make small changes.

Compare And Change – As I said earlier making time to make sure we have a competitive rate on our bills is something I rarely look into as I never seem to find the time to do it. With Youtility it is all done for you, so if a better deal comes up for you then it can all be done through the app.

Keeping You In The Know – There are breakdowns of how much you have spent and what you have ready to come out which makes it really easy to budget. They will let you know about any high bills that you may need to take a look at and keep you informed of when contracts are coming to an end which is great to make sure you are taking a look at everything you are getting is as you need and if not then changes can be made at the right time.

Making Bedtime A Breeze With Moonlite

Bedtimes in my house are an absolute battle ground. Each child has been very different and I have had to use a whole array of different strategies to get them to bed over the years. However when it comes to Frankie all of my attempts at getting him into bed have failed at the first hurdle and six years on this is beginning to take its toll.

For some children going to bed can be a very stressful experience and lead to a lot of anxiety and this is certainly something that is behind Frankie’s sleep problems.  He worries about not being able to see whats going on in the dark of the night, he worries about people getting into the house when he’s asleep, in fact you name it he will worry about it.

One thing that seems to calm him down is a bedtime story, although even this he can struggle to engage with and whilst I’m reading his brain will still flit back and forth between all of the worries he has.

When we were asked to try to try out the Moonlite story projector I had high hope that this would be something to help with our bedtime woes.

Moonlite takes traditional storybooks and mixes them with modern technology through the use of HD projections, sound effects and read-a-long features.

The kit comes with with a projector that you simply slip one of the four story wheels into and attach to your phone. Using the projector and a downloadable app the phones flashlight brings the story to life on any surface. The Moonlite app contains the full story for you to read along to whist the pictures are projected for you to follow along with.

The app was super easy to download as was fitting the projector to the phone. Frankie absolutely loved following the words of the story and waiting for the different Mr Men characters to appear on the ceiling. The fact that its a more interactive experience than reading a book in the traditional way allowed Frankie to be more focussed on the story. It took his full concentration and didn’t allow his mind to wander onto all those anxious thoughts he normal gets and he actually settled down so much better than he had for such a long time.

Moonlite has a great variety of stories to choose from such as Spot Loves Bedtime, The Tale Of Peter Rabbit, Dinosaur Roar and lots more. They are going to make for great stocking fillers .

The Gift Pack sells for £39.99 and includes 5 stories and 1 projector. The starter pack which contains 2 stories and a projector sells for £19.99 and you can buy additional story reels for about £8 each.

This has been a great way for us to make bedtime a calmer and more enjoyable experience and has opened up a whole new meaning to our bedtime story routine.

Minion Crazy With Crayola

My children along with thousands more are completly minion crazy at the moment.  So when the lovely people at Norton and Co sent us this ‘Colour Alive’ minion colouring book from Crayola they were over the moon.

This is no ordinary colouring book as it works together with a free downloadable app that brings the characters on your page to life!

It was really easy to download and use.  Number three who is nine added it to her iPad with no help from me.

They were fascinated that their art work could come to life in front of their eyes and to be honest so was I.

We are off in holiday soon and I know that this is going to keep them occupied for a good few hours whist we are away.

This book was given to us as a gift and all opinions are my own.
