Saying Goodbye To A Fabulous Summer

As much as the kids can drive me absolutely up the wall at times I love having them off school for the long break over summer.

We have had countless trips to the park and spent many days eating out of the sandwich bag, a wonderful week in Chichester where we got to explore places we’ve never visited before.

We had our wonderful family over from America and got to spend lots of time with them catching up on everything we have missed over the years and getting the chance to join them on the Harry Potter Studio Tour.

One of our favourite annual trips is to the Mayfield Lavender Fields, infact we had more than one trip this year!

What I have to be grateful for this year more than anything though is everything that we have been able to experience though the opportunities that blogging has bought to us.

The lovely ladies Ruth and Katy organised a brilliant day of pizza eating and movie watching with Pizza Express and Fox Studios that was the perfect start to the holidays.

We got the chance to visit Shrek Adventure and the London Aquarium.

We took park in an action packed spy day with the new release of the Project MC2 for Netflix.

We filled out bellies with afternoon tea at sketch and Kerb at Camden Market.

For me though the highlight of our holiday has to be getting made an official blogger for Camp Bestival and having the chance to experience the most wonderful few days ever!

Those six weeks may be over but we have made some stellar memories that will last a lifetime!

What have you all been up too?

A Thank You For Sticking With Me

At the end of February my blog turned a year.  In my usual unorganised fashion the date came and went and I did nothing to recognise this.

After a bit of a reflective day in which I have decided to get myself more organised I thought it would be fitting to take a look back on how my blog has progressed over the past year.

I started my blog mainly due to my lovely sister really.  I had a lot of interest through my personal Facebook with friends asking where best to go with the children and she said it would be worth setting up a blog as people seemed interested in what we get up to.

After some time I bit the bullet and wrote my first post.  The whole thing had to be set up by my sister and my son as I’m such a ‘techno phobe’ and to be honest I’m still running to them with even the simplest technical issue!

It wasn’t long before I got the bug, and to be honest I am now completely hooked – my Husband would definitely verify this.

I love everything about it.  The feedback you get when you publish a post, the wonderful blogging community I have come to know and love and the wonderful opportunities it has opened up to the whole family.

It has been an outlet for me to express my feelings good or bad and have the comfort of people sharing their opinions and advice with me.

I have met some wonderful fellow bloggers along the way and be it online or in person I would now class a good number of them friends that have all helped me out along the way.

We have been to many events as a family trying out new products and getting to enjoy some fabulous days out and trips away.  One of our favourites had to be Chessington World Of Adventure which we have been lucky enough to experience twice.
One of my first product reviews was with the wonderful ladies from Lara and Ollie.  I thought it would be fitting to work with them again and offer all of my lovely readers the opportunity to win one of their fabulous necklaces.  Please click below for your chance to win.

It does take up a huge amount of my time and the social media side of things really drags me in and it’s something that I need to rectify as it is a huge asset to my blog but also a massive time waster that I can’t seem to switch off from!

This said my hard work has paid off in many ways and I have managed to get into the top 100 in the Parent Bloggers Leaderboard and I’m currently ranking 226 in the Tots100 charts which has around 8000 blogs registered.

I hope that you will all continue reading and enjoying as much as I love writing and fingers crossed I will still be around to tell my tales next year!

My First Blogger’s Award Season

When I started my blog last year the hype of the blogging awards had just started.  It all washed over my head as I was still getting to grips with the basics; well to be honest I still am!

At the end of last week the MADS2016 and BIBS2016 opened their doors to the nominations and I’m really excited to be able to be a part of it this year.

Through social media and some wonderful events I have had the pleasure to meet some wonderful Bloggers and read their fantastic blogs.  Each one offers something different and each writer has their own unique style.  This has made me gravitate towards these and go back to read certain ones time and time again.

I’ve actually found it hard to think about the category that I would fit into as I don’t really have a niche.  With a large family with big age span I tend to cover a vast range of subjects making my blog as scatty as me!

This said, if you have enjoyed reading my blog over the past year I would love to have your support by clicking on one of the links below and giving me a nomination.

I’ve put all my heart and countless hours into my new found love and knowing that others enjoying reading as much as I love writing would make it all worthwhile!

For the BIBS fresh voice, photo or family seem to best suit and lifestyle, preschool or photography would be great for MADS best use of photography or lifestyle would be fantastic!

How To Tell A Blogger’s Child

I’ve been blogging for around nine months now and it has bought so much more to my life than I could have imagined.  It has also had a bigger impact on the children than I thought!

Here are a few things that I have caught my children saying and doing since I started blogging and I’m sure that many of you Blogger’s out there can relate to a few!!

“Mum that’s a nice wall” on many occasion we have walked past a big clean white wall or some stunning street art and the children will stop and say “hey Mum that’s a nice wall”.  This is because a wall is one of my favourite backdrops to my photos.

Cheese! My love of walls has now made such an impact that every time  we pass somewhere that looks like a good photo opportunity number five now backs up to the wall and stands there saying “cheese”. He will make a great model someday!

Waiting To Eat when we are out the children now dont wait to eat out of politeness, they hang back incase I want to take a photo!  I can never resist a lunchtime upload to Instagram.

It’s Nicky! We tend to have quite a few visits from the postman or should I say post lady each week; in fact when the door goes in the morning now the boys run towards the door saying “it’s Nicky”.  Oh yes we are now on first name terms and the boys love to have a chat whist bringing in the parcels.

“Can we play yet?” Once the parcels are in they love nothing more than ripping open the boxes to see what’s inside.  They then sit their patiently asking “can we play yet?”  This is because they know it’s going to take me forever to get some pictures before they are allowed to try them out!

“Where shall we sit?” We have always been a crafty family but this is now a little more structured than it used to be.  I love to get pictures of the children whist they are creating their masterpieces but this requires good lighting and more often than not blocking out my bomb site of a kitchen in the background!

I pondered over these changes for a while now and to be honest if it makes them more aware of there surroundings, gets them out exploring new places and meeting new people and having the opportunity to try out new toys and read new books  having a blogger as a mummy really can’t be a bad thing.

My First Blog Camp:Blog Camp Vibe

With a mixture of nerves and exitment I stepped off the underground into the hustle and bustle of East London and with the help of some other blogging Mummy’s I made my way to my very first blog camp.

One of the best things I have found about starting my blogging journey is the huge amount of wonderful people I have started to meet online and now actually in person.  I have been so surprised by how open people are to help you out with problems and help you succeed in this huge blogging world.

Blog Camp Vibe took my eye as it was geared towards Blogger’s who wanted to move their blog onto the next level and make it into something to earn money from rather than just a hobby.  I had originally started my blog as somewhere to document my family’s life and share our adventures with others.  This is still predominantly why I write but it takes a huge amount of time away from my family so I now feel I need to make it a source of income to.

The day was filled with lots of truly inspirational speakers that gave me lots to think about and that bit more drive to keep pushing onwards and upwards.

The majority of speakers had made the long journey from Israel to come and speak and it was two ladies from @roco_runs that  caught my attention with their huge passion for everything they do.

Roco Runs started with a few women that made a promise to run together everyday and documenting it as they go.  They run, they jump, they dance and they pose.  Their tag line is ‘running is a journey not a destination’.  This really stuck in my mind and now I’m a avid follower of their huge Instagram page.

Their Page has gained a huge 63k followers in only 2 years and this number is forever growing.  To me their stories and beautiful pictures would capture the hearts of many women out there and I know this brand will go from strength to strength.

Another stand out speaker of the day for me was by the wonderful Capture By Lucy.  When I first started blogging her stunning Instagram captured my heart and I was over the moon when I saw her take to the stage as I would love to be able to create an Instagram page even half as wonderful as hers.

I know that I’m real photo spammer and if I take somthing I like I plaster it across every social media platform, smothering them with every hashtag I can.  Lucy told us we need to become ‘photo snobs’ and be very picky about the ones we chose to share on our Instagram feed.

I have taken on board every tip she gave and have now made my profile pic more personal, I’m trying hard to only share special pics for Instagram and I’m trying to find a filter that suits my style and stick to it.

I really liked the point Lucy made about Instagram being like looking through a magazine and I really want to change things around and try and create this for myself over the next few months.  I thought about all my favorite feeds and Lucy is right, the ones that really catch my eye are very fluid and calming and have a very set theme.  It’s a work in progress for me but hopefully I will get there soon.

The whole day was filled with wonderful tips from beginning to end. That coupled with spending time with lots of friendly, likeminded people and plenty of coffee and tasty cakes my first blog camp experience has been one to remember.

Have you been to a blog camp? How was it for you?

The Blogger Interview

I was tagged by the lovely Katie at Growing Up Kater Tot to take part in ‘The Blogger Interview’.

It is wonderful to have been able to find out a little more about Katie and I can’t wait to have a read of the people that I am going to nominate to take part.

How did you get into blogging?

I love days out with my little ones and due to me spamming my Facebook on a weekly basis with our adventures I got lots of emails from friends asking advice on thing to do with their children.  My Sister suggested I started up a blog and the rest is history.

What Advice Would You Give To A Blogger Starting Out?

I went into blogging completely blind with no real knowledge on how to write and absolutely no technical know how!

Luckily enough my sister and my son have been a great help on the technical front but I do feel im still muddling through with my writing.

I would have done a bit more looking into everything that goes into a blog before I started as I have found it all a little overwhelming and stressful at times.

How has your blog changed since you started writing it?

I was originally just going to blog about days out.  Over the last five months I have really enjoyed adding recipes, crafts and parenting advice to.  I know I may be better to have a primary subject to my blog but I am really enjoying the diversity I have found and I hope that my readers are too.

What advice would you give to PRs approaching you for a campaign.

As a family we are open to trying out a variety of different products and days out.  We were lucky enough to be able to attend our first blogging event the other day.

As we have a large age range in our family there is a good opportunity to get different views on things from many perspectives.

We will always give a honest opinion on anything we are given to review.

Do you have a plan for your blog?

I still feel it’s early days for me and I am learning new things everyday.

I want to continue to improve my writing skills and gain more confidence at the keyboard.

My main aim to to write a blog with good content that will interest people and keep them coming back for more.

What do you think about rankings?

I would love to say they are of no interest to me but they would be so far from the truth!

I managed to get into the Tots100 top 500 last month and was complelty over the moon.

At the moment I am putting a massive amount of time and energy into my blog so it is fantastic to know that I am heading in the right direction and what better way to keep an eye on how your doing than to keep a check of your rankings.

I hope you have all enjoyed a little of what goes on behind my blog and I would love to nominate the following people to join in to:

Picking Up Toys

Baby Brain Memoirs

Days In Bed

Our Seaside Baby

Our Very First Blogging Event

Since starting blogging just over six months ago I have been completely taken in by everything the blogging world has to offer.  I love meeting new people through social media, getting inspiration from other people’s great blogs and trying out new things that I can then review and pass on mine and the children’s thoughts to others.

As silly as I probably seem I was thrilled to receive an email the other day inviting us to a blogging event at Centrale Croydon.

On reading the email it sounded like a real fun packed day that the kids would love and I would love writing about.  Then the fear set in!  What would I wear? Would the children behave? Does this now make me a ‘real’ blogger?

My fears we quashed as soon as I made my way to the Build A Bear Workshop where our day was starting.  I was greeted by some other lovely bloggers and their great children and just knew from then on I was going to love the day.

An exited group of children made their way inside the brightly coloured shop and were met by the super friendly, bubbly staff.  Name labels were given out and they were then sent off to pick their very own bear from a huge range that would cover any child’s taste.

We settled for a minion, fluffy bunny and a rainbow coloured teddy.  The children were then allowed to go up one at a time to help stuff their bears whilst taking part in lots of fun games to keep them amused.

Number three and four had a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anybody.  Number five on the other hand decided to fulfill my fear of badly behaved children and cried and moaned through the whole experience!  The staff were not fazed in the slightest and tried their best to involve him in the fun.

From here they had all worked up a good appetite so we made our way round the corner to an ice cream parlour called Gelatos.

Again we were greeted with a smile and seated in the funky purple booths, where we chose our lunch from a vast selection of hot and cold food, hot and cold drinks and lots of supper scrummy waffles, sundaes and milkshakes.

Normally places like this are off limits to us due to number fours allergies; here they were not a problem and they catered for everything.  They managed to find a suitable lunch for him that was then finished off with a yummy sorbet.  Number two and five had a delicious panini, a big scoop of icecream and a georgous Oreo milkshake.

Our last port of call was to go and take a look around the beauty and photography studio Hello Georgous.  Number three who is a complete diva was thrilled with everything she saw and was looking on in awe of the girls there having their nails done and waiting for their special photo shoots.

We have been booked in for a mother and daughter manicure and can’t wait to let you all know how our day goes.

All in all apart from the tantruming toddler we all had a fantastic day and loved every minute of our experience. Any element of the day would have made a brilliant birthday party or special treat for your little ones.  The teddies have already been on a trip away with us and we will be booking in our girly day very soon, which I’m sure we will finish off with another trip to have a sneaky ice cream!

My Leibster Award Nomination

A while ago now the lovely Charley Mulaney kindly nominated me for a Leibster Award.

This was a lovely surprise and is now down to me to answer the great questions she has set and then pass the love on to some more fab bloggers!

Here are the Liebster Award rules:

1 – Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.

2 – Answer the 10 questions given by the nominator.

3 – Nominate and link 10 bloggers (with less than 200 followers).

4 – Notify all the bloggers you’ve nominated.

5 – Create 10 new questions for your nominees to answer.

So a little later than it should be!!  Here are my answers and my nominations:

  1. Who inspires you?  Although she will be shocked by me saying this, it has to be my Mum.  I was the worst teenager you could imagine and she has always stuck by me no matter how hard it must have been for her.  She is always there for any of us at the drop of a hat and I really hope that my children can feel the same way about me.
  2. There are four seats around your dinner table, anyone can fill them – who would it be?  My Grandma as I miss her so much and would love to be able to tell her how happy and settled I am now.  Angelina Jolie as she is my ‘girl crush’ and I find her life fasinating.  Elvis Presley as I’m a massive lover of his music and would love to find out what really happened in his last days – if they really were!!  Mickey Flannagan to bring some humour, he is the funniest man I’ve seen.
  3. What is your favourite song?  It has to be Save The Last Dance by The Drifters as it was my first dance song.
  4. You have the whole day to yourself – how do you spend it?  Sadly I’m a gym bunny, so I would get up and spend a few hours in the gym, followed by a bit of a pamper by getting my hair and nails done then finished off with a lovely Spanish meal with my hubby.
  5. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?  This is a hard one as I love the freedom that the summer gives you with the good weather and longer days; but Christmas is my favourite time of the year so I really can’t chose!!
  6. What was your first blog post about?  My first post was a little bit about me and my lovely little family and my reasons for starting my blog.
  7. Do you have a bucket list?  If you do give us an insight into what’s on it.  Ive not got a bucket list as I like to take each day as it comes as you never know what’s round the corner.  I’m always onto the next thing and love building memories, but I’m not great at making plans.
  8. Dogs or cats?  Well as I’m allergic to cats it has got to be dogs!!
  9. What are your guilty pleasures?  I’m a simple girl and love nothing better than a long bath followed by a big bar of chocolate on the sofa.
  10. What’s your best quality?  This one has taken me a while to think about but I think it has to simply be, being a Mum.  I’ve had my moments and I’m sure that my kids would not always agree, but its my biggest love and I like to think I put my all into it.

I would now like to nominate:

Don’t Call Me Step Mummy

Our Footprints

Mammy Undone

Mrs Savage Angel
